Esker is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team in maintaining and enhancing the reliability, security, and performance of our Esker on Demand SaaS platform. In this role, you'll be part of an on-call rotation responding to production incidents, while providing technical leadership in automating operational tasks and collaborating with development teams to improve our distributed architecture. As a senior member of the team, you'll drive strategic improvements to platform reliability, mentor team members, and take ownership of complex technical initiatives while working within an agile framework.
This position hours are first shift, Monday - Friday, but also include a paid on call rotation. The on call rotation is one evening (5:00pm - 9:00pm (CDT) every 2 weeks and one weekend rotation every 6 - 8 weeks (Friday evening 5:00pm to Sunday evening 7:00pm CDT)
All on call shifts include an additional pay per hour and additional pay per incident.
Key Tasks/Duties:
- Maintain platform health and reliability by monitoring platform performance and availability, performing complex troubleshooting across system interactions, and providing expertise to resolve production incidents as part of an on-call rotation.
- Take ownership of monitoring and observability platform direction, improving alerting accuracy and coverage while building comprehensive dashboards to reduce incident detection and recovery time
- Lead infrastructure scaling initiatives to support Esker's growing SaaS customer base; architect maintainable solutions to complex problems while understanding intricate interactions across systems that compose the platform
- Drive automation efforts using deep knowledge of multiple Infrastructure as Code frameworks; mentor team members in automation best practices and review code changes to ensure the improving health of Esker's code base
- Enhance self-service tools for Esker developers, technical support staff, and product consultants while developing new procedures and tools to safely perform critical operations
- Lead project refinement sessions; mentor others in technologies used by Esker and their best practices; conduct training and induction sessions for new team members
- Contribute to a high-functioning team within an agile framework; spread knowledge through formal or informal training sessions; foster a psychologically safe environment that encourages feedback and new ideas

Essential Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience maintaining Linux systems in a production environment
- Bachelor degree in Computer Sciences or related field preferred OR equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree
- Expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.) and demonstrated ability to architect and implement complex automation solutions
- Experience managing cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP and networking fundamentals, including DNS, firewalls, proxies, and distributed system architectures
- Strong experience with relational or NoSQL databases in production environments
- Proven track record of mentoring team members and leading technical initiatives
Salary Range: $113,500 - $141,900 + on call shift pay
